This itinerary starts from Piano dei Grilli following the Forest Service track towards Monte Ruvolo. Wide meadows characterize this side of the volcano, with brooms growing around and, upper, some isolated oak trees. From this upland you can see craters all around, from the nearest ones, such as Monte Minardo and Monte Ruvolo, to the summit ones. Once reached Monte Ruvolo, you have to go right until the fork for Monte Tre Frati, then continue straight on up the hill. From here onwards, the path goes through a lava field of 1763, running along Monte Arso and Monte Lepre, where you will find a second fork. Here you can see a majestic oak tree. Then turn left to Monte Egitto.
