Gioiosa Marea is a seaside resort on the northeastern coast of Sicily, located about 70 km from Messina and 25 km from the popular Capo d’Orlando. Its beaches are not crowded and give unique landscapes, being nestled between the sea and the Mounts Nebrodi.
The city beach, extending into the inhabited centre, is characterized by a bay with grey sand and a limpid sea. It is very comfortable for those who want to enjoy coffee bars, restaurants and parking areas nearby.
Among the most beautiful ones, we should mention the beach of San Giorgio, which is characterized by fine grainy sand and washed by limpid shallow waters. This is a free beach, but bathers have at their disposal a small beach club where it is possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds. There is also a good restaurant. The beach of San Giorgio, ideal for families with children, is very wide and the sea is usually quiet.
A very suggestive area is the beach of Capo Calavà, a wild bay with grainy sand enclosed between two high promontories. The access to the beach is through a steep path, but its clear sea and its high blue waters rich in caves are a sight not to be missed.
Finally, east of Capo Calavà there is the Bue beach, a small sandy inlet with high crystal waters. It is the perfect place for an escape from the crowd, to enjoy a relaxing day far from the chaos. This bay is not very popular and still pristine.
The beaches of Gioiosa Marea are ideal for those who want to spend their holiday in a quiet place, enjoy pristine beaches and breathtaking landscapes.
